Shakespeare and the Written Word

A fifty minute performance exploring Shakespeare's use of language through the exploration of works like Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare's Sonnets. Suitable for grades 7-12.

Shakespeare and the Written Word Performance Workshop

Created and directed by Shakespeare Dallas' Director of Educational Tours Marco E. Salinas, Shakespeare and the Written Word is a compilation of Shakespeare's plays and sonnets. Students will experience an overview on Shakespeare's use of language including rhymed verse, blank verse, prose, and iambic pentameter. Lessons are exemplified through live performance of scenes Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, and Shakespeare's Sonnets. This program also includes a hands-on training session to help decode Shakespeare's language. At 50 minutes long, this production is just the right amount of time for one class period.
