We currently have three positions available at Shakespeare Dallas:

Lead Sound Engineer/A1:

The Sound Engineer is a member of the stage leadership team and is responsible for the successful implementation of all sound and communication elements to the production and venue. This is an outdoor position. The Lead Sound Engineer/A1 is a supervisory position. Duties include:

• Mixing of audio for all performances
• Acquisition of all equipment necessary to the production
• Oversight of the preparation, hanging, connection and testing of audio and communication equipment.
• Organization and purchasing of all consumables including batteries and wireless microphone accessories.
• Planning and implementing of the patching and signal distribution of audio equipment.
• Providing audio support to auxiliary spaces including, but not limited to Front of House, Backstage, and Dressing rooms.
• Inventory and repair and maintenance of all sound equipment, cables, effects, distribution, and control consoles.
• Supervises sound staff and maintains records of hourly workers within department
• Works with the Production Manager to manage the audio budget
• Requirements:
• Master level knowledge of audio and communication systems
• Ability to mix 16-20 actors and manage sound playback
• Knowledge of sound system tuning and management
• Knowledge of sound playback software (QLab and SCS preferred)
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to climb ladders
• Must have knowledge of electrical, rigging, and climbing safety
• Must not have a fear of heights

Chain of Command:
Reports to: Production Manager.
Supervises: the Assistant Sound Engineer/Mic Tech, Sound Effects Operator

 

Microphone Technician/A2:

The Microphone Technician/A2 is a member of the audio team and is responsible for the successful implementation of all sound and communication elements to the production and venue. This is an outdoor position. Duties include:
• Maintenance and implementation of wireless microphones for 16-20 actors
• Preparation, fitting, connection and testing of audio and communication equipment.
• Planning and implementing of the microphone plot in conjunction with the Lead Sound Engineer and Sound Designer
• Providing audio support to auxiliary spaces including, but not limited to Front of House, Backstage, and Dressing rooms.
• Inventory and repair and maintenance of all sound equipment, cables, effects, distribution, and control consoles.
• Requirements:
• Knowledge of audio and communication systems
• Knowledge of wireless microphone management
• Must work well with people
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to climb ladders
• Must have knowledge of electrical, rigging, and climbing safety
• Must not have a fear of heights
