FAQ

Can I buy tickets online?
Yes! Click on the “Purchase Tickets” link on the left hand side of our webpage, select the name of the production, date, and applicable venue and choose how many tickets you would like to purchase. Please note that senior and student discounted tickets are currently only available at the front gate.

How do I reserve seats?
Unless there is a group reservation, seating is on a first come, first served basis. If you are a member, you do not need to make reservations: there is a section reserved for members only! See the Seating section of our Show and Park Policies page for more info.

What does “donation only” mean? Why would I pay for tickets on these nights?
If you purchase advanced tickets online you can enter the park at 7pm instead of 7:30pm. In a sense, purchasing a ticket on a donation-only night gets you a better view!

Do I have to print my ticket or can I show an email?
We would prefer a printed ticket, however we are currently working on an option for those with limited or no access to a printer.

Where do I park? How much does it cost?
Attended parking lots near the Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre are $5 per car. There is no charge for street parking or in unattended lots. For members, parking passes are available to purchase for $15, or included in the cost of membership for levels Associate and above.

How do I buy student/senior tickets online?
Senior and student discount tickets are only available for purchase at the front gate with valid identification.

What is your refund policy?
Shakespeare Dallas generally does not issue refunds except for the over-charging of goods and services (for example, purchasing two tickets and being charged for 4). In the event of a weather-related cancellation of a show, rain checks are issued so that our patrons may have every opportunity to see another performance. Refunds may only be issued for show cancellations during the last weekend of performances.
A ticket purchased online is good for any performance.

What are the different membership levels?
See our Membership page for an explanation of levels and benefits.

Does membership include parking?
Associate level memberships and above include an annual parking pass.

How do I reserve seats with a membership?
Family memberships and below are welcome to enjoy the members only reserved section. Associate level and above members can reserve pavilion seating in advance, subject to availability.

Are there any benefits to membership outside of Shakespeare in the Park?
Absolutely! Shakespeare Unplugged encompasses several outreach and educational efforts including the popular staged reading series, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, accompanying Lunch and Learn opportunities, and various actor and community workshops, lectures, and discussions. See our Shakespeare Unplugged page for more information.
Shakespeare Dallas also started the Poet’s Society for its upper-level members in 2011. This exclusive group was created to give members a chance to network and attend special events with people that have a shared interest in Shakespeare and the arts in Dallas. Join or upgrade to an Associate level membership or up to receive invitations to these events!

Where is the Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre? Addison Circle Park?
Maps and directions can be found on our Venues page.

How do I know which location the performance will be at?
All Summer seasons shows that occur in June or July will take place at the Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre. For the Fall season, check our Shakespeare in the Park page for specific dates and locations.

When can I enter as a member? If I bought my ticket online? If I buy a ticket at the gate?
Summer season entrance times:
6:45pm Members Only
7:00pm Groups, Special Guests, Advance Ticket Holders
7:30pm General admission tickets go on sale at the park
8:15pm Show begins

Fall season entrance times:
6:45pm Members Only
7:00pm Groups, Special Guests, Advance Ticket Holders
7:30pm General admission tickets go on sale at the park

I want to buy my ticket at the gate. How will I know if the performance will sell out?
We have a large outdoor venue with lawn seating, so our performances do not sell out. Visibility can become very limited when shows reach a certain capacity, usually on a Friday or Saturday night for a very popular show. Members get first choice of seating!

Can I bring food? Will food be available for purchase?
Patrons are more than welcome to bring outside food into the park. Concessionaires are also available on-site for your convenience.

Do you allow any beer, wine, or liquor on-site?
Adults 21 and over are welcome to bring beer and wine to the park, however we do not permit the consumption of hard liquor on our property.

Can I bring my own chairs?
Yes, but certain chairs are only allowed in certain sections of the seating area. We also offer low-back sand chairs for rent that are $5 each or 2 for $8.

Can I bring my pet?
For the safety and comfort of all visitors, pets are not allowed in the park. Only service animals assisting visually impaired or disabled guests will be admitted.

Is the park wheelchair accessible?
Yes! Please see a staff member or volunteer if you need help determining the best route for a wheelchair.

Can I take pictures of the stage/actors/performance?
Please feel free to take photos or short videos to document your enjoyable experience with Shakespeare Dallas prior to performance time. Once the performance has begun, please discontinue the use of any recording devices. Taking photographs poses a risk for the actors on stage, and using digital cameras or video recorders violates union rules for the reproduction of a performance.

What if it rains?
While it is usually sunny and breezy at the park, weather conditions in North Texas can change rapidly. No performance will be cancelled due to weather prior to show time. The decision to delay or cancel a performance is made at curtain/start time nightly, 8:15pm for summer performances, 8pm for fall performances. Our Facebook page will be updated with the most recent information available on cancellations.

What other programs do you provide?
Shakespeare on the Go! and Shakespeare Unplugged

What is The Complete Works of William Shakespeare?
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare is a five-year collaboration with the AT&T Performing Arts Center in which every Shakespearean play, sonnet, and epic poem will be presented in staged reading form at the Winspear Opera House.
The 2014-2015 season schedule and additional information can be found here.

What is a staged reading?
A staged reading is a presentation of a play with minimal props, costumes, and scenic pieces, used only in order to provide clarity in action, character, and meaning. The work is not memorized, and the actors perform the play with script books in hand.

I have a suggestion! Who do I talk to?
We love hearing feedback from our patrons about which programs work, which don’t, and what people would like to see in the future. Send us an email at info@shakespearedallas.org. Due to the volume of comments and suggestions we receive, we are unable to respond to each email individually, however all emails will be read.
